Introduction to Vitreous Enamelling - Friday 1st November 2013
This 1 day course is an introduction to enamelling on copper. If you have never enamelled before or you want to refresh your skills this is a great course (I know, I was on it in May!). Students will learn:
· Prepare copper blanks · Sift enamel & fire in kiln · Embedding decorative media · Stencils, masking & Riso screens · Sgraffito · Finishing
Each student will have a choice of up to 10 pieces of copper to work on, with extra available at an extra cost if required. These include a range of shapes: circles, animals, butterflies, ovals, novelty shapes and 60mm squares suitable for small panels. This also includes any base metal findings required to make the pieces into jewellery or to put a jump ring on. (NB Adhesive is NOT provided) |

About Carol Griffin
After many years teaching Design Technology in secondary schools, Carol is now focusing on her passion and skill for enamelling, creating a range of beautiful copper formed enamel pieces and running enamel workshops.
Graduating in 1980 with a BA (Hons) in 3D Design, specialising in Jewellery and Silversmithing Carol then gained her PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) in 1981 and started teaching Craft Design and Technology.
For more than 10 years Carol has been a member of the Guild of Enamellers and has gained her City and Guilds in Enamelling on Copper. From here Carol has exhibited her work in various galleries including London, Oxford, Holland and Spain, been Chairman of the Guild of Enamellers, organised and facilitated large scale enamel panel workshops, and taught enamel workshops in schools, galleries, church halls and her own studio. Carol is currently Bursary Secretary for the Guild of Enamellers, and member of the BSOE (British Society of Enamellers) and has had various articles and reports printed in both journals.

Following the great success of Carol Griffin’s courses here in May, Carol is coming back to run some more of her great courses in early November. She will be here for three days and will be teaching two new courses in addition to the one day introductory course that was so much fun in May. |
